yeah same, but so much smarter with the black look. Do you have to inform DVLA about colour change? inc insurance company? any cost incured?

yep, no cost just change colour or v5 and post off to dvla

redhand, would you get a shackle on it just below the tow ball, or would you shackle it up to the top rung of the rack, ie closest to the door. I only ask, because the tow ball part is only attached to the rack by a pin, right? and thought might not be strong enough.

ball and pin is a 1 piece cast item I always put the strop or rope straight onto the pin, as they can't come off when recovering that way. never put a shackle on the cross bars or you'll bend em.
