Ref Carpy clutch issue.

Your description of the problem with your clutch is common problem.

Without seeing the item in person I can only be 99% sure it is the problem.

You have incorrectly set the clutch hight and in doing so incorrectly set the clutch pedal without having enough free play.

You need to readjust the pedal hight and make sure you have some FREE PLAY in the pedal. If you do not allow the master cylinder to completely bottom out then pressure is retained each and every time you press the clutch. Long journeys and vibration will keep up the pressure.

You will find the clutch will slip more and more until you fix the free play issue.

Unless you have done something really crazy then this IS your problem. It is a classic mistake made by home mechanics and one I have seen and rectified personally many times in the past.

The gear you are in has no relationship to the problem other than the fact lower gears will have an easier time accelerating the car and at present you can transmit enough torque for this to happen. Unless you fix the problem you will find the clutch will slip in lower and lower gears until you burn out the clutch and then that cheap master cylinder has cost many times more bucks than you originally planned.

You will find the procedure for setting enough free play in all good haynes or land rover manuals.

Very cool picture.

Took my newbie mates out last night, Carol came too, which is a first. We known them as a couple for more than 20 years, plus we had the dogs along for a walk too.
Started at putteridge, so really gentle. Then Offley, when we arrived there were cars blocking the road. An X5 in front of me, so I got out for a look, there was a Mitsubishi L200 stuck in the entrance to the lane not going anywhere just spinning. Then I looked down the lane a bit further, there's a Vivaro van well stuck. WTF was he trying to do. The slitty driver's eyes lit up when he saw me. I got the stupid X5 out of the way and hooked the L200 up, dragged him back onto the road, not realising that the van was attached to him too. 2 for the price of 1.

Then did Lilley and let the dogs have a run.
They then asked for something a bit more challenging, just to see if the difflock worked OK, so off we went to Steppingley. Thought if would give them a good mix of terrain, as they haven't done anything ever. Well the inevitable happened, way too slow into the water at the top end and they ground to a halt, the diffs were grounding out slightly. Hooked them up, quick tug and off we went. Turned around at the top and came back the way we came. Faster though it the second time and no problem.
They need to sort front recovery points out, I told them to pick some up when they picked up the Landy from Craddocks. They told the guy what I'd told them to buy, he'd talked them out of it, saying they didn't need them as Defenders don't get stuck Muppet.
He's now ordered some.
Dinner back at their place, very nice.

i'm selling the broncos for offroad only, one is like new one is fecked and the rest are cut up badly not really suitable for the road although I did use them for some time. Wouldn't be right to selling them knowing they were going on a vehicle for the road. They will be priced accordingly.
Well aslong as I have The disco chassis and body down the scrapper asap like this week, I should have a Rangie coming my way pretty soon to be broken.

I gotta get my recovery gear in order last recover was a bit hap hazzard compared to our usual slickness. Highlift is in need of a service and more shackels required and they need to be painted diff colours. Bugsy Sandglow yellow.
