well carpy, lots to do asvise you to fit bush wires you also need to bull bar as bush wires need to be from chassis to roofrack to work properly otherwise you will rip off ur wings if you get more than a bush in ur way, Jai

The early ones didnt have bush wires they had "truck" wing mirrors to push the stuff out the way.

I think the bush wires were introduced cos the truck mirrors got damaged so much. Depends where you are going tho the middle of the sahara I don't think they will get used but in the Amazon when you are cutting your own tracks then yes valid they are great. so far My ones have stopped me putting my screen through twice to which I am thankful. One time the cable snapped. and the other time I stopped and took a new route before my wing was ripped off. Jai

yea - the bush bar should sort that shouldnt it? i had a look on a spec list for the 300tdi support vehicles used in the 90's and they had the brownchurch bush bars im looking at - they also allow for a winch to be fitted.

on a more interesting note got back from europe ok, driving through cardiff earlier on the way to bridgend and the clutch decided to break and completely stop functioning. limped back to bridgend, bu thats a new clutch needs fitting now. still - with 109k on the clock - probably best before the trip anyhow

I reckon the arm has worn through, very common problem. Defo worth doing a clutch tho while your there at that milage. Was it slipping at all or was it just always engaged? engaged=busted clutch fork,
or master/slave cylinders unlikly usually get tell tail signs before complete failure,
slipping worn out clutch.

jai i think it will have been constantly engaged. i was able to change gear from first (engaged with engine off) to second third and fourth - but gears werent massively friendly at it. got me to where i was going mind - just.

yea i know - will keep em off here. funny rule though - any pedestrian going into a landy at any sort of speed wont have a good time - being sliced in half would just make the transportation a little more messy

hi all. ive been monitoring these forums for a little while and finally decided to join. im only just learning to drive but have a defender 90 as my first car. but the main reason im posting on this thread is that i live in barton, just out side luton. and will be up for some green laning when i pass my test.

Not much been there a few times if you like your 90 I wouldn't bother Whaddon is much better value for your money and it doesn't destroy your mota like devils pit does. Jai

Devil's Pit kills cars, the mud forms a grinding paste then sets solid. Like Jai says, Whaddon is much better.

yer i know it is a bit hard on your motor. i dont really wont to destroy it as it will be my car to get to work and back. never been to waddon but i would be really up for a trip when i pass.
