Transfer box

Can anyone tell me if a transfer box from a Disco with an R380 box will go onto my LT77 box in a Defender. If it will, what modifications if any are needed? Thanks.

Yes it should go straight on.
It will give you slightly higher gearing in high ratio which i personally think it makes the car much nicer to driver...better cruising speed etc.
Just swap the linkages over and away you go

you will need to either swap the speedo drive/handbrake unit, or modify your defender handbrake linkage to fit also.

Glad you mentioned that one. I just drilled and tapped the two addition mounting holes on the disco casing to take the defender handbrake mounts.

yeah i thought about that but it would weaken the aluminium casing, so i drilled two holes in the steel linkage bit, and used old propshaft nuts, as they make perfect spacers to hold it away from the housing the right amount!

the force, maybe, but the handbrake cable is pretty thick, and theres a lot of vibration from it.

Besides, i don't own a tap set
