Hi!

I have a 1990 RHD Defender 110 5 door with a 2.5 N/A Diesel engine. The original did not have a power steering. Also the AC was an add on by the previous owner.

Thanks to the forum I managed to get a 2nd complete power steering kit as one of the members was breaking down his defender.

On adding the PAS kit, there is one belt to the PAS pump, and the other goes to the fan There is no third groove for the AC compressor?

My question is how do Defenders which have a PAS, A/C have a 3-grooved bottom pulley. How does one have the bottom pulley drive the main fan, PAS PUMP, ALTERNATOR & A/C.

Do I need to get a 3- grooved new bottom pulley so tha 1st grove drives the main fan & alternator, 2nd grove drives the PAS Pump and the 3rd outer most grove drive the A/C compressor.

Any help on this will be great. Pictures below:

most vehicles whick have ac will have a serpentine belt eliminating this problem.
I'm not sure if there are any 3 groove pulleys around but you could get one made to fit your double pulley and do it as you suggested.

Can't picture it at this late time but, can you not get a longer belt to drive the both of them?

aircon in a defender.do you live in the sahara.if not then surely there must be enough draughts to keep you cool
