Trewey's DIY Side Exit Exhaust

Following a couple of requests, I've been out and taken some photos. As you can see, I didn't clean anything first.

The end-piece is a cut down boy-racer thingy from Trago. The finisher was cut and filed from a bit of (spit!) chequer plate that I had lying around.

The silencer is one of these, and sits nicely between the wheel arch and the chassis.
JETEX - HANDY ROUND 250MM (125) 2.5 - J-HANDY-25
it is mounted rigidly on 3 home-made brackets, so as to prevent it rattling in the hole in the body panel. (The flexi-pipe takes account of any movement).

The inner end of the silencer connects to one of these
JETEX - JETEX 45 DEG. BEND 2.5 - J-45-25

which connects to one of these
JETEX - FLEXIBLE PIPE 1/2M 2.5 INCH - J-FLEX-25

then one of these (the landy pipe is 2 1/4" diameter)
JETEX - STEPPED SLEEVE 50.8/57/63.5 OD - J-SS-25

It joins the stock downpipe just in front of where the first silencer box was originally.

I made a cock-up joining mine and had to do a bodge, that's why there's so many clamps there - there should be only 2!

The system is a bit louder than standard, but not outrageous.

the lack of paint on the sill, below the exhaust exit, is nowt to do with the exhaust. That was over enthusiasm with a pressure washer.

Good job and helpful pic's.

I was looking at Jetex's stuff last week, I am going to get the flexi stuff and drop my mid box, I will just cut the downpipe now like you did and clamp on the flexi, and cut the back section just before it would join to the mid silencer and clamp the other end of the flexi on here. Job done!

These peeps are cheaper for exhaust flexi. They do stainless or mild steel.

so do i need a back box or not? could i just have the eaxhaust goin straight throuhgh from the manifold right the way to the back and out throught the side?

You define the noise test.

If a copper thinks 'bloody hell thats loud...' its probably ok.

If he thinks '**** ME thats loud...' then hes gonna ticket you for it.

Dnt think there more of a test than that! The chavvy boy racer corsas get away with it, y not a LR?

When i make my eggsauce i intend to go for a nice loud(ish) sound, cos i rekon boy racer Landys are amusing! And i wanna hear the Turbo...

someone on here did give me some decibel limits.

When i cut mine at the front box, i ran it like that on the drive for a bit. was pretty loud, but not mad. bikes make more noise. if you ran it full length then i imagine the noise would disapate some what.

I fitted a straight through cherry bomb where my front box would be and flexi out of the side by the passenger door. sounds nice it does
