Hi, just after some ideas as we seem to be out of them!

Please bear in mind, I’m not a car person, in any way, so please explain anything like I’m an idiot!!

My 2008 Freelander 2 has a rumbling/grinding noise that seems to come from FOS wheel area. Initially thought it was a bearing, but it’s been replaced and noise is still there.

It’s definitely something turning as you can hear the “vom vom vom” getting faster as I accelerate, until it’s a constant rumble, then the reverse happened slowing.

Mechanic can’t find anything and really want to get it sorted (or confirmed it’s nothing to worry about!) thanks!!

Something jammed twixt brake pad and disk. Can be very hard to spot and may not show up on the disk if the object is a softer metal than the disk.

So you’ve done tyres and a wheel bearing already, and not solved it?
I’d be jacking the front end up and getting under it with a torch for a good look-over before changing anything else.
Get an assistant to slowly turn the wheels by hand and see if you can hear anything up close. Check BOTH brake disc areas as advised already. Check the NS wheel bearing (with the wheel on, check for play in it). Also check the driveshafts and prop bearings for play.

Be aware that sounds from underneath can be misleading - what you think is the FOS might not be…
