Sound deadening material

Hi

I've been looking at the price of Dynamat on the various sites and wondered if the is an effective cheaper alternative? I want to do the following areas in my 1986 Ninety: rear floor and wheel arches, the footwells, under seats, possibly under bonnet and ultimately the roof before I fit a roof lining (if I can find one that fits. Thanks

I'm not sure Exmoor sells a similar thing.

Sticky butyl sheeting or mats will dampen the 'dwang' from areas like the sides, wheel arches and roof.

It's very good and has a thick alluminium covering (top).

I have also bought from eBay - this wasn't quite as thick (or heavy) so I fitted this to the roof and under the seats and it's been very good as well. You don't need to cover the panel fully, on the sides and on the roof a single sheet takes out the noise and 'deadens' the panel very effectively. Fitting a sheet to the door skin also makes the doors quieter too.

On top of this mat, in the back I used DoDo again with their 5mm Dodo DEAD-EZY Insulation which I covered with a rubber load mat. I also bought some Bonnet Liner for the cabin area and under the bonnet.

I have tried different makes and to be honest there isn't much between them, technicaly maybe but in the real world nothing I could detect.

Thanks for all this. I think I'll start with the Deadn from Dodo and see how I go. I'm intending to put the Exmoor rubber mat in the front anyway - so this should help. And I will get a rubber mat for the back as well.....

I used the cheapest sound pads from Ebay and they worked just fine. I then used a foam insulation from Vandalised, that also worked fine.
Dodo is too expensive in my mind.
Sound pads on the inside of the door skins and foam inside the door inner trims also makes a difference.
Make sure everything is properly clean beforehand.

I bought quite a few rolls of this for doing my roof, sides, rear door etc... super cheap, super sticky and works really bloody well. The difference in noise before and after is noticeable and it's also made a huge difference in the insulation as well and I no longer have tons of condensation build up on the inside

I used similar under the bonnet. I tried setting fire to it before I fitted it and it didn’t burn, so should be fine in there…..I hope

Did you paint the frame or fit a new one? Mine is rough, asked YRM if it's something they would consider doing and they said no not at the moment which seems a bit daft to me considering it always rusts to hell.

Got in about it with a wire brush on the grinder mate. A few coats of paint and it looks great. The rust will come back though, but it’s way better than it was.

Here’s what I did to mine in case this helps you I hope. Sticky butyl with the hexagon pattern. 2.5mm. Off eBay from a vehicle company. Can’t remember the price but it was acceptable. I put it on the footwells, gearbox tunnel, under and in the seat box and around it, in the back the wheel wells too. Under the bonnet I had the kit you can buy that fits all the shapes of the frame area then I put the stuff I bought and then a new factory sound deadening pad. It’s made a difference. In the cab area I finished off with the export trim mat. Also put the pads in the doors as well. It’s pretty good, if you slow down to 40mph you can speak to someone if they are in the cab beside you
