BYD and other Chinese manufacturers have been throwing their money around getting influencers to do 'favourable reviews'.
I get the impression they know their products do not stack up against the legacy manufacturers so they need to buy people off.
It will be interesting in a few years if cheap components / metal / plastics / poor software all come into play and they all start falling apart we shall see

I can't tell if you're talking about the Chinese version or JLR's new vehicles... ;)

I'm VERY wary of the long term life of new Chinese cars... but no more wary than anything new from JLR, anyway.

I hate the new Defender less than at launch but still not my thing, it's a Discovery, too plush and soft.
I wouldn't say no to one
A neighbour across the road from me has the new defender. I can't work out if the same size as the old ones or just the shape is deceptive.
I looked inside it looks very compact. The mere thought of scratching getting in muddy puddles must make the average non greenlaner wince.

Also saw Some news as well of the batteries that keep catching fire , airbags not triggering in crashes , due to not being fitted and many other corners being cut with Chinese cars

They register the cars then allow them to stand for ages so cut or simply don’t fit some components , the owners get an allowance for each car sold and then sell it at half the price , so indeed plenty of dodgy deals going on

There was also a utibe video from an Australian journalist who done an inside report but can’t find it at the moment
