Always nice when a fix goes to plan. That happened to me, once! It was about 10 years ago, the windscreen washer stopped working.. i topped up the fluid and it started working again!!No power going up hills and slopes and a whooshing noise coming from turbo. Outlet hose had split. New hose fitted and full boost now back.![]()

Yep Turns out the new hose was not reinforced, so it expanded then contracted every time. This caused a small hole to get bigger and bigger until it ended in a slit about 21/2 inches long and hence the wheezy noiseDiddle you say not long back you could hear a wheezy sound?
New cap. Engine up to temp and no pressure when i take the cap off.. not even a little hissYou thinking cap or sensor, not pump on its way?
Are there traces of antifreeze around the coolant tank?hmmm

There's nothing around the cap. No chance of seeing further down without taking the engine outAre there traces of antifreeze around the coolant tank?
If no traces no leaks ?There's nothing around the cap. No chance of seeing further down without taking the engine out![]()
There's definitely no pressure on the system so it's going somewhere. If no traces no leaks ?![]()
Have a look down the side of the oil filter housing see if there's water in the V, I bought one those vacuum filling kits off eBay for another job and there's a pump in to pressurise the system that's how I found my leak turned out to be the stat housing, water just sat in the V and dried up.There's definitely no pressure on the system so it's going somewhere.
The level is always low but i never see where it goes. I can top it up and it will drop an inch fairly quick but then not drop anymore
A good strong lamp and like kda says, start looking into the V or use a long cable or similar and poke about and look for residue, maybe pink or green crystalsThere's definitely no pressure on the system so it's going somewhere.

i nobbed about with the cap for a while last night.. parked at work this morning and there was some pressure in the system! so i think that proves its a dodgy capAre there traces of antifreeze around the coolant tank?
If it's just been driven there will be some pressure my mate. If it's cold there shouldn't be. The more modern systems are more efficient as these engines run even hotter for the emissions so they had to up the game for the cooling systems.i nobbed about with the cap for a while last night.. parked at work this morning and there was some pressure in the system! so i think that proves its a dodgy cap
I think you've misread somewhere lol.If it's just been driven there will be some pressure my mate. If it's cold there shouldn't be. The more modern systems are more efficient as these engines run even hotter for the emissions so they had to up the game for the cooling systems.![]()
