Talking of missing corkscrews, I have seen, and done, a variety of ways of removing a cork without one.

The3worst6,by far, being to push the cork back into the bottle. It tends to go suddenly which is then followed by a fountain of wine going over the perp. Plus the cork then acts like a part time stop valve!
Two knives or even one sharp one will do it. Lots of other ways but the most surprising is to fold up a tea towel, hold it over the bottom of the bottle then bang the bottom of the bottle against a solid wall. Slowly the wine sloshing back and forth eases it out.
Council been this morning to re hang my bathroom door because bathroom fitters couldn't get it right after trying twice.
Third attempt by proffesional is pretty good dont you think ?
Just have to laugh and go an get a new door and hang it myself, given up![]()
