Dottir had one fitted last year when we re-vamped the central heating system. It has been very useful during major alterations to the bathroom plumbing, turns the water supply off instantly when required. Original stop tap was also replaced just downstream of the gadget. As a final back-up we can turn the supply off at the water meter.

Works on the same principle as a pilot solenoid valve, i.e. pressure differential I'm guessing? They usually needs half a bar dp to operate.

What's up with a decent WRAS approved ball valve?

Evening all, we had a large barge almost sink today with a hole in its hull. Had to set up pumps to keep the water out
tis ok atm as the tide is going out but it will certainly flood when it comes back in. I aint going down at 2am to

This got me digging.
apparently you can use a ball valve, (It's what we have in the house in France,) but there has a to be a double one way valve too, to prevent back flow that allegedly is covered in a standard stopcock, although the chances of that working are nil after a short time!
This starts off talking about something slightly different. But it covers the whole subject and more further on.

Can't find the right stopcock (copper to mdpe)

I'm trying to order some pipe fittings to get some basic water services into the house. And I can't find the right stopcock I need. 25mm MDPE main in to copper services. That one is easy. A brass stopcock with 25mm in and 22mm out. But the one that has got me stumped is copper IN to 20mm mdpe OUT...
