L322 Wheels On A P38?

hello

okay so i found out i cant just put wheels made for a L322 straight onto a P38 and now am a bit confused with it all.

ive read up that i will need spigot rings and the right wheel nuts? is this all i will need to get them to fit on or will i need anything else? cant i use the wheel nuts from the old wheels to fit on the new ones? i really dont have a clue about them :doh:

any help would be great thanks.

hi no you cannot use your old wheel nuts. yes thats all you will need spiggots and nuts do the job.

Ebay's probably the easiest place for both spiggot rings and nuts.

i put wheels straight on, no spiggots or owt. they did come with the proper nut tho!!

they are the 6 spoke ones, 19 inch, feckin heavy too!!!

the nuts are diff for the l322 than those for p38

They are, but only because the wheels are different. If you're using L322 alloys then you need to use the l322 wheel nuts on your P38.
And Spigot rings.

Sorry, but gotta add quick warning here: The central spigot recess on the L322 wheel is larger than the P38 spigot. That`s why as has been correctly said you must fit an adaptor ring. The L322 wheel can fit with-out this. but it ain`t safe. The weight of the vehicle is meant to be taken by the spigot, not the wheel studs. The constant load cycling on the studs can cause fatigue failure. As with any fatigue problems the results aren`t immediate, but in this case could be fatal. If not for the driver then possibly for any poor sod standing in a bus queue who gets hit by 30kgs of wheeol travelling at 50mph !

Maybe I'm an idiot but I've never torqued a wheel nut.
I just do them pretty tight, and then a nudge more for luck.
This is probably tighter than 140nm, but nowhere near as tight as they come back from the tyre fitters.

L322 wheels on a P38? What diameter are they? If more than 18" they are not homologated in the EU for the P38 which may give you insurance problems. Also do not be surprised if you get a lot of steering shake. Your speedo may also be inaccurate.
The torque setting is the setting required for the wheel, so the L322 torque should be used but as Montyjohn said I never use a torque wrench on wheels.
