I'm going to try the same wiv me test patch around the edge. Mines block paving. This time i'm going to zap anyfink that grows, each time eye spot it, in an attempt to get rid ov weeds. Problem is a lot gerrin from the top. Hence using jointing products that set. Eye need to lift the blocks in certain areas to raise them level as ma hippo has rippled me drive. Not sure that will last. Not much suppory under neef.
That too is exactly what I had to do around the pool in places. subsidence cause by a bloody mole. Had to lift 42 slabs, 10% of the total. Not funny. Put down a wettish cement and sand mix, 4 to 1.
So best of British to you and i do feel your pain.:(

Did you read my reply to @Hippo (I think) where I described how we transport our three cockers on the back seat of a car, all securely harnessed in? They love it and we can then ram the boot with stuff too.;)

When eye had me gate posts fitted they sed there wurn't much shale and sand under neef. Eye fink it was done over 20 years ago or a bit more, on the cheap. Eye dun't want to pay for replacement assits about 3,000 sovs. Eye has watched peeps on youtoob lift and put more shale under then compress, un purrit all back. Finking ov trying that on a patch to see how it goes. Dunt help when ants pull oot me sand. :(
Wot's "shale"? We used scalpings on our front drive int UK. They is good when compressed properly. Weed barrier , good quality, helps too.

Small rocks yer use as the base. MOT type 1 they call it. But it looks like shale oft the beach to me.

Just had our front done. Bottom was hardcore, bricks and whatnot, thoroughly whacked down. Then hoggin, well whacked. Then sand and the pavers was laid on that. Then whacked again, then kiln sand and a final whack and sealant.
