If Land Rover say the towing capacity is 3500kg that's what you can legally tow, or I believe it would be 4000kg if you went to the trouble to fit close coupled brakes. I moved my 110 on a trailer yesterday total weight about 2500kg towed with me poor old 200tdi disco no problem. If the trailer is in good condition with proper brakes etc and loaded correctly there shouldn't be a problem. And surely a longer wheelbase has to be more stable for towing so disco or 110 should be better than a 90 with a heavy trailer.

aup mate welcome to LooneyZone

general rule for towing is you can only SAFELY tow 85% of your tow vehicles kerb weight,
ie. 2000kg 85% would be 1700kg
a litle more IF your really brave

bolux - we reagurlarly pull a 3 and half ton mini digger on our td5 hi cap and with the trailer it must be nudgin 4 tons . with the buckets in the rear tub it probably is nearly 5 tons and it tows fine up any hill etc on 750 16 michelin road tyres.

and wot about when you pull 30 - 35 sheep in a trailer that weigh about 100kg a throw .

and the miliatry tow way over 5 ton on a landy with standard brakes gearbox etc.
so as i said thats complete bolux
