I am wondering how heavy is VERY heavy.
The big problem is where to put it if I get one. Everywhere in our place is full of junk and if it is that heavy I doubt I'd be able to get it up the stairs.
Can you strip it down, take it to bits?
I am asking all these questions as I have never used one, or even seen one in real life.
Except one that resides in the waiting room of my MOT tester's!
He and I have chatted about it and his does look take to bits-able.
I couldn't do anything about yours, if you are willing to part with it, until we get back from France anyway. and i wouldn't like to mess you about.
Wifey would tell me, quite correctly, that I have other things I should be doing before finishing off the kit car. And even though it is a sewing machine, which would have at least a little bit of interest for her, it wouldn't over ride her interest in her list of DIY jobs for me to finish!
I have serviced sewing machines before so unless it is full of electrickery I wouldn't be scared of that. But you said it is old, which sounds very good!
Meantime, as she is out at the mo, would you mind telling me what you would like for it? Then I'll have a chat with her when she gets back.

It came out of one of these closed-down factories after someone thought it was a good idea to put all our faith in China and cheap labour.
When it was brought to me ( by the man who has just sorted out my overlocker - by coincidence - he looked older and so do I ) he came with it in two parts - machine (like a heavy duty version of a domestic sewing machine) and the 'table' it slots into, all in the rear of his family car and he lifted it by himself - but it looked a bit heavy.
It is all manual 'cos I don't think they had invented electronic ones then.
It is Brother (Made in Japan ) model DB2-B763-3 if that brings any thing up in Google.

If you are interested I will shift some of my junk around and try to get a meaningful photo for you.
Ask the boss and let me know if you might want it as it stands a chance of getting on the list for getting rid of as I too, am always looking for space.
