Brilliant CB reception/ transmission

Turn the squelch knob down until you get hiss. Then turn it up until the hiss just stops. It's a gate for cutting out unwanted noise/weak signals.

When I'm laning and all vehicles are a few yards apart I tend to turn the squelch up higher to cut out signals from anyone using the same channel further away.

Basically when you transmit, ie. hold down your PTT button, your unit sends out a signal at the same time as you talking, only it's too low for you to hear. Any units standing by on the same frequency will pick up this sound at the same time as your voice. The squelch on your unit turns the speaker off (in laymans terms) until it picks up this squelch noise, when it then lets the transmission run through the speaker. If that makes sense. It's so you don't have to go mad having to listen to that jingling thrust bearing AND bloody radio noise.

Yeah, an' that. Bluddy syintists!

Well, all this good reception has proved one thing. I really don't have much to say on a CB. Once I get past the where abouts are you bit I loose interest and spend the next few minutes talking ****e and making myself sound foolish. hay hum.

I generally only use mine to talk when laning or to other Landies I pass with a twig on (or on the L2B run, stuff like that). The times I have had it on just earwigging other people most of what's said is pretty banal!
