I’m tempting fate saying this, but bar a rear pinion seal on diff, I only have one leak remaining. That leak, seems to be the bottom of the oil feed pipe on the vacuum pump. The pipe itself seems in good nick and o think the leak is from banjo below which is odd. I was hoping it would be a duff o ring but there isn’t one on the banjo obviously. Hmmm

Either side of banjo. Guessing these will be copper? That’s the only obvious point of leak I could think of with it. I cleaned it all off with brake cleaner but need to get a mirror under it tomorrow. I’m glad I went hunting as the egr cooler coolant pipe has been vibrating against the crimp on above pipe and can’t me more than a mm thick where it’s damaged!!

Thanks for that! I'm changing over my alternator/vacuum pump now and suspect that oil was leaking from the banjo bolt area on the underside of the vacuum pump, as well as potentially from the vacuum pump lip seal (Denso 081103-0080 or Toyota 29341-64130) between the vacuum pump and alternator.

I'll take the hose (Land Rover YKL100120) off my old vacuum pump and transfer it to the "new" one. I want to replace those two copper crush washer - ADU6847L. Now, I bought five copper crush washers from a Land Rover parts supplier a little while ago for oil changes (sump plug). I reckon these are the same washers? If not, is it possible to rejuvenate these washers and use them again?

The hose (YKL100120) has a small o-ring at the other end (where it fits into the upper part of the engine block). I assume it's okay to re-use this o-ring, or should I ideally find/use a new o-ring?

I'm presuming the oil is pumped out of the vacuum pump, through the banjo bolt/copper washer seals and back to the top of the engine block (sealed with the small o-ring)?

Anything to add - anything I'm missing re the oil leak?

I think the washer is used on various applications but I’d check that. I’d always replace o rings. I have a box of them that I use for car and taps etc.
 
Undid the Banjo bolt - two copper washers there as expected - clearly not the same as the sump plug crushable copper washer!

Can I "rejuvenate" these copper washers so I can use them again, or do I have to find new copper washers of the right size somewhere?

Okay, the used alternator looks good and the vacuum pump shows no signs of leakage. I'll just put it all back in and see how it goes:
  • Will re-use my two original copper washers on banjo bolt
  • Will re-use my original oil line (YKL100120) - bit suspicious this could be source of leak - apparently they usually leak from the swaged section
  • Will re-use my original small hose stub that goes on the other end of the vacuum pump
  • Will re-use my vacuum line to servo
Thing is, I'll do a thorough clean of the engine block around the alternator area and then monitor. If there's a leak, then it's likely YKL100120 - the swaged hose. A new one isn't cheap, but I'll then have to look at buying one as I don't want another alternator eventually covered in oil!
