Knock when braking hard at slow speed (after Haldex service).

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could please offer any advice before I do battle with the garage.

I recently had the Haldex serviced on my '14 SD4 and the vehicle immediately developed a knock. Basically, if you are for example manoeuvring back and forth when parking and hit the break hard so the car rocks, I am now getting a knock. Depending on how hard you brake you might get 1 - 3 knock depending on how violently it rocks.

As a side note, I've have had the 'low traction' warning come on once since the service but I'm guessing that if something is moving more than it should it may have triggered this. Aside from that, general driving is fine as is normal braking.

Any pointers as to what it is likely to be would be much appreciated. I've crawled under but can't make the noise by hand, it needs the weight of the car braking to do it.

Was it a Landrover specialist?
The Haldex needs to be serviced properly, or expensive damage will be done.
I'd take it back.

No it wasn't a specialist. When I say service I mean oil and filter change not fully disassembling (you might detect, I'm not technical at all).

It's pretty easy to mess up, if they don't know what they are doing.
The correct fluid needs to be used, as does the correct drain process and the correct filling process.
It's not difficult if the instructions are followed, but I personally don't trust anyone in the trade to do anything properly these days, especially if they aren't used to working on the component.
