Eye just need ter put somefink on the end of the rod so the andul will turn it. Turn as it is and it tilts it. Push int and turn ter change height. Or the other way round.

MIL's washing pole trimmed off (to remove the rotten bit) and refitted into a ground-spike instead of into the dirt.
Line fixing eye moved 2 foot further up the pole to compensate for the repositioning and the 1-foot cut off.
Job jobbed and wifey has stopped scowling at me.

I'm lucky enough to live in a quiet village and my neighbours are quiet people so I'm hoping it'll be OK.
I'll let them know that I'll be working nights soon though just so they know I'm trying to sleep during the day.
