Not quite 20 Years, only 5 , but I concur.

For me the problem was the other package drugs ( post HA) that dropped the blood pressure, now those sweeties sent me to sleep . But it was not the Statins. Oh and the bruises / swelling now that was fun.

Strange, as each "normal" year I get a test and they tell me what is good or bad. HDL / LDL levels.

When I retired I went for the full "well man" MOT type thing and came out sufficiently OK to not need any pills to take daily. Cept the one to do with my meningioma, which they doubt I really need but I have to keep on taking if I don't want to lose my licence for 6 months.

My HA was for a blocked Circumflex artery ( 2 stents in it). At that time I was in a stressful job, worked 18 hours a day and I smoked 60 a day.
At the time the Drs. said stop smoking or die within 5 yrs. I stopped (13 years ago).
Then they said... drop yr cholesterol or die and put me on ramipril, statins, beta-blockers as part of "the post HA protocol".
Then they said you are obese, now that we have your metabolism and BP down there in your boots.
So, this year I kicked all that crap into touch. My BP is normal, I don't care what my cholesterol is, cholesterol builds cells glial-cells and new neurons (why is Alzheimer's on the rise?).
I feel/look/am better now than I have in the past 10 years.
Doctors are a class of very learned stupid men, paid to prescribe statins by the government (just ask them).

I believe, though I am ready to be corrected, that the presence of high cholesterol is often an inherited thing. Like both diabetes 1 and 2. No one in my family going back yonks ever died of either a heart attack, or a stroke, or diabetes. So I am happy about that.
Pneumonia, or cancer got them. And most lived for ages and ages!!!
Only two exceptions were an ultra fit first cousin, in early 50s with a form of blood cancer and my ma, with breast cancer at 59.
Cannot help the genes you are born with!
Anyway, you have obviously got to the bottom of your problem and are getting the treatment you need, so that is good.
Hope they keep you going for as long as you want!

it is for some like myself then its not just what you eat your body produces too much cholesterol in your liver,if your borderline i wouldnt bother they do have a tendency to think some drugs are cure alls but for many id think they are very much life prolonging

Yes, it is very exciting to watch in 3-D as it all happens.
Mine was a radial (wrist) inserted stents and felt really strange as they went in/up over and BANG!

im no doctor so i cant say whats good or bad for you,my experience is high cholesterol, blocking arteries,angina ,heart attack.stains normal cholesterol
beta blockers stop your heart from over working

Absolutely right. But some docs, particularly some of the ones who move down to Dorset for the watersports rather than the doctoring, you get the idea they just whack you on what will probably do the trick with out being too careful. Blunderbuss rather than rifle, technique.
Ma having been a doc I do ask them all sorts of questions and have even been known to write down their answers in front of them. Had to do that with one of wifey's surgeons.
List too long to relate the fuck ups she has had due to bad surgery. Just one tiny one. The screw head that showed up under the skin on a toe, where it hadn't been put in right during an op for bunions. She took it to her GP. I said "It looks like a screw head coming through." the GP said "Absolute nonsense, can't be that!" It was.

I did the wrist..twice, plus I had a balloon inserted via the groin. ( as part of a test) . the great thing was the removal of the wrist clamp because it hurt and then the leaking of blood at high volume...LOL.

As I said, we talked about it and agreed it was borderline anyway, he gave me a diet sheet and that was that. I looked at the diet sheet, saw I was already eating like that so just carried on. Every test since has been the same so neither of us worries about it.
Wouldn't mind losing some weight though. Don't do enough exercise. Simple really. And the booze, about 3 to 5 units a day.

they put me on blood pressure lowering pills i didnt know i was on,a a few months later having an op on my arm they took my blood pressure then asked how i felt as my blood pressure was far too low,youd think theyd have you back to check when giving you new tablets

Mine was taken off......boyo, the amount of blood was interesting..I made the mistake of flexing my wrist after the clamp was removed...OOOOppps.

The nurse grabbed my wrist. then suggested I grab it while she got help as I was in a room she could not get a shout for help easily ( was the intensive care cardiac unit) , next Nurse in took over, grabbed my wrist with a dragon claw, I did point this out and she said, " better than you dying"... But those wrist clamps are fraking painful.

I had to go back a few times to argue the levels they put me on. My BP was so low it was a joke, I said to them I have never had high BP, but they just decide on a protocol. I thing this is the biggest problem. They have a dedicated package and they do not allow for personal treatment.
