Morning All :D
It is looking all set to be a real scorcher today. :)
I have gym this morning, but I am debating whether to go or not.
The kids/grand-kids have given me this nasty tickle-y throat/chest.:(
I wouldn't want to make someone unwell, I am thinking.
Scaffold tower arrives this afternoon and there's a front of house to paint.:)
Anyway, you all have a lovely day. :D

As I'm almost two months in to my four month notice period, I suppose I'd better get me arris in to gear and try and find a new job. :)
'tis a bit cloudy this morning but more suns forecast later in the day. Not cold though which is nice.
Four months? Never heard of one that long! They must really want you if they want you to work it through.

When I was moving on to the next job it was common to be put on "gardening leave" and to receive a strongly worded legal letter about the clause in one's contract that forbade "client poaching" on threat of legal action.
Summer resignations were not uncommon :D

They are changing our contract to put three months instead of one plus not allowing going to the competition. Totally unenforceable but they are trying bless em :)

Wonder if they would actually take anyone to court who simply walked out after resigning, walking across town to the opposition and starting working for them?

And yes, once you have started working for them they cannot change your contract without your agreement, so, yes, totally unenforceable.:):):)

After working here for 11 years I have gained much insight as to how everything works and because it's only me in the IT Dept they wanted to make sure that they found a replacement well before I left so that there was a half-decent handover.

There is (as I am sure you are aware) an opportunity to offer "Consultancy" on a paid basis (mine was £300/day or £37.50/Hr.) to make sure they have a hiccup-free start with the new guy. ;-)

The problem our company has is staff retention. Making it more difficult to leave also makes recruitment difficult.

As much as I really don't want to go down that avenue, should the job search not prove fruitful then I may be left with no alternative. :)
