Has anyone on here fitted a wastegate modulator to a Defender ?
thats what the wastegate does!
Vast blank em off on D2s, they can be decent but generally arnt that helpful
The Defender fuel map doesnt have wastegate modulator "section" in it. I doubt that you can addapt a defender fuel map for that and the D2 fuel map is a bit different
Such an improvement that you are speechless?
I'll explain as short and as clear as i can: The ECU is managing the modulator to keep the wastegate closed untill the boost rises then opens gradually as to keep the boost as high as possible below the overboost limit which is effective especially on acceleration from low speed cos then all the boost goes to the inlet nothing is wasted while on the defender without moulator the wastegate opens on the turbo pressure from the beginning without any controll(unless the wastegate is tightened) so the full power will be reached only under heavy loadHow does that improve the performance, is the turbo quicker to respond?
It's easyer to fit a manual boost controller and ease up the rod a bit which would have a quite similar effect, see "Internal wastegate setup" : https://www.turbosmart.com/news/manual-boost-controller-installation/ , here's a nice one https://www.turbonoz.co.uk/all-products/mbc.htmlSounds like a modification worth doing then.
