bcm ?

hi interesting issue with my car, bought it and the only wrong thing was heating , working drivers side and not working passenger. i live with it. yesterday had the diagnostics on it and there were few faults all cleared other than bcm fault. everything works fine, electrics etc etc so what do i do how do i clear the fault? thanks

A fault code which can't be erased is current and the only way to clear it is to fix the issue first... i can't tell you more cos i can't guess what vehicle you have nor the exact description of that code

thanks i have 05 discivery 3 diesel, as i said nothing wrong apart from heating just didi the diagnostics to help a friend got the new diagnostics tool and that is why i found. i will try to get the code number you are right that would help

thanks it was some new huawei tablet. connected the cable found the car did a health check. there were few other faults as well but all cleared and that one stayed. now knowing that nothing is wrong with the car apart from heating i just wanted to check should i do something or not before something happens as if i understand correctly bcm is all electrics in the car? had loads of landrovers , actually nearly always had a landrover of some sort but this is a first d3 so dont know much.

ref ur heating issue, can be

faulty actuator ,/ blend motor
Blocked heater matrix
Air in system

Not 100 percent, but have read it before where low a/c gas confuses the climate unit, unsure if it was land rover though?

Was it where the ac comes on in the winter to help defrost the windscreen

The defrost mode activates the screen heating elements it doesnt engage the compressor so the gas level should be irrelevant IMO

alas haven’t got a heated screen in mine

Programmed Defrost Switch: Activates a program that automatically selects: inlet air to fresh air; distribution to screen only; blower to speed 5; rear screen heater on; windshield heater on (where fitted), A/C system to automatic mode. An amber LED in the switch is illuminated while the defrost program is active.

Economy Switch: Reduces the A/C compressor output to a minimum displacement condition x 5%, reducing the engine load required to operate the A/C compressor. An amber LED in the switch is illuminated when the economy mode is selected on.

also think the AC can’t be completely turned off, supposedly periodically runs to keep the seals from drying up , I think that’s how I read it
