Did your new gaiter come with a plastic frame in it?

Mine was stitched around the base and the plastic had a break in it and so could slide it in.

Looks good. Yes the pre facelift is different at the base. It is square and presses into clips under the console trim.

I think you may need to get your tracking checked, just in case that is causing extra wear.

Today I've finished the installation of a 5door front courtesy light in my 3 door, and an MGF rear view mirror with the little map lights on it, and all the interior lights are pure white LED's.

I fixed mine until it was broken.
Changed the vacuum lines for the turbo and EGR, now it won't start. I think it isn't fuelling. Meh. I wanted an automatic anyway.

Most likely disturbed a connector somewhere. Engine would run without vac pipes after a fashion.

Yeah, but I can't find which one(s) are flakey. Manana. I'll pull the air porting off again and check then. Also time to charge the diagnostics laptop. I'm suspecting injectors or fuel rail pressure sensor.

Today, I have been mostly doing the rear diff mounts. Thanks all for the helpful hints. I do seem to have dropped, or mislaid, the gear-change thump somewhere.

Bingo.
I'd noticed a slight clunk on taking up drive of late. Fearing calamitous failure I thought I'd have a look today and found I can move the front section of the prop back and forth about an inch.
