Loss of drive

Hi guys
My freelander 1 facelift td4 05 plate runs fine any other time but when it rains or even worse going through puddles the power just stops like its starving of fuel but pull over knock it out of gear it revs no probs feels a bit tight though put it back into gear still no power but again revs no problem the tightness is still there in the engine turn off ignition wit a min or so fire up drives no problem few miles up the road dose it again
I have checked all pipes im at a loss any help would be apreciated

Is it a loss of drive or loss of power? The two things are very different.

I would say loss of drive when it happens dont matter what gear your in it just gradually comes to a stop

If the revs stay up then its a loss of drive, if the revs go down then its a loss of power.

I'm presuming its a manual from the way you state "knock it in neutral" - in which case you are looking at a clutch slipping.

It could be a slipping clutch. Or if it's been converted to FWD, it could be the splined link in the gearbox.
