Bloody hell, thought I'd seen all the scam listings!!
Theres a load of listings appear every now and then with the same photo and different user name, was reporting them but got fed up with it cos they'd just re-appear a few hours later.
What is the scam here anyway.....how do they make money, you'd have to be pretty dense to buy a landrover without seeing it in person to make sure it exists.

The scam is that they price it very cheap, but not so cheap that its obviously a scam. Then they claim there's a temporary problem with their e-bay account and they are in a hurry to sell so could you do a bank transfer instead (never ever do this, it removes all your e-bay buyer protection). To get around the not seeing it they then claim to be away on urgent business and will arrange escro - a trusted 3rd party will inspect the vehicle, you then pay the 3rd party but the funds will only be withdrwn once the vehicle inspection verified. They also usually claim the vehicle is in some really remote location to make it hard to go and check. There's 2 ways this works, either the escro is a set up or it real but they rely on the time delay between you cancelling the payment them getting acess. Its would seem the payment / cancellation system has a few minutes delay and they exploit this to transfer the money overseas.
If I'm bored I find one of these and e-mail them asking to see the vehicle, if they reply with some remote location I ask for the address, I then go on google earth / streetmap and get a nearby house and e-mail them saying "that's amazing, I have friends who live at ***, I'll get them to pop over this afternoon..." I strang one guy along for a week as he got more and more evasive.

I think e-bay must be closing them down as quick as they can but it looks like the relistings are being put up automatically, 1000 at a time, which makes it hard.
