Hi Everyone,
Allow me to introduce myself..a middle aged ( old ) farmer and contract farmer from Loughborough.
I've only gone and bought a Series 2 Lightweight after 30 years of Caterham ownership so I'm swapping one noisy aluminium and steel British icon with another. She's a beauty and a real testament to its previous owner(s).
Here's a picture

So I'm going to find out as much as I can about her and enjoy her and her foibles as best I can. Bit of difference to the bike engined Caterham but that's part of the attraction.
I look forward to rambling on with some of you in the future.. treat me nicely as Manuel would say in Fawlty Towers " I know noooothing "
Cheers Neil

Cheers. It is really smart ..same age as me but I fear it's worn rather better. It has an immobiliser and pedal guard but looking to get tracker on it. My Caterham has a removalable steering wheel but this is rather large to carry about!!

My dog is a miniture Labradoodle...not the most savage of specimens and not much of a security device.
I'm going to change the very original tyres because they are a. Worth a few quid and b. Bloody noisy so just investigating what to replace with. May go up to 7.5-16 as well to raise the gearing a little.

Your lightweight looks great! I’ve got a series 3 lightweight from 1976. Fitted Dakar Insa Turbos 7.5 16’s to mine ascroad noise from the cheap Chinese tyres it came to me with was awful. Also fitted a fairley overdrive which helps as well

Welcome. Fantastic introduction and what a lucky, lucky, soul you are. Jealous does not start to cover how I feel. What a gorgeous little vehicle :D

Boys I am indeed very fortunate in seeing her for sale as I just browsing as you do on a coffee break and was immediately attracted . I went down to see the old girl pretty much straight away and to be honest Graham the previous owner put me at immediate ease what with his knowledge and obvious meticulous nature. It's as much about the previous owner for me as anything. I took my nephew down with me who is Landy mad ( they have a Series 2a rescued from some Kenyan wilderness ) for some assurance .
I'm just learning all about her at the moment but she runs beautifully...Graham fitted a Fairey overdrive but as its on 6.5-16's it is still quite low geared so I think some 7.50 's wouldn't go amiss. I've been advised to stick to cross plies for some degree of ride compliance which i can understand.
I've already caught the Upgraditis I thought I'd cured myself from the Caterham but no...ebay seems to be bringing little bits and bobs ...
Can anyone recommend a tracker particularly suited to Landy's?? Seem loads on the market....anyone much experience of a good one?
