How much simpler can it be. first post says it all-------- As heading suggests as a temporary solution to my head gasket troubles, I have bought another p38 diesel.. The plan is, to get someone to remove my engine and I can rebuild it from the ground up. . Or I may swap the best bits of 1 car into the other. At least I am mobile again and not having to borrow my sons car.

I reckon some of that there glass type crack sealant might fix it, what do others think? - (runs and hides behind sofa having read the post in full and just lobbed in a live grenade anyway).

Oh mate you lobbed the pin, look for the pineapple it was attached to.
.trouble is that sealant is only good for up to 2ltr engines so two bottles required at a cost of about £60. I thought about it for about 2 minutes then put the £60 towards parts and another head.B

I don’t get it, you now have one with lower mileage working engine but want to fix the old one?
My options would be
1) keep the new one, old for spares
2) put new engine in old vehicle
3) pull the head off old one and turn the gasket into a coppaslip sandwich, whilst working on the new engine waiting for the inevitable
Give yourself some time to think about it is best, no need to act quickly on something you may later regret.
