I believe tank is saddle shaped, therefore it has a transfer pump within the tank,
usually shows 1/4 full but just sucks air.
I don't know the TD6 at all but is there a clear portion of diesel supply pipe in the engine bay? Be handy if you could see if there is fuel reaching that far.

Check for fuel flow to the Fuel Filter and from fuel filter to HP pump.
THe Td6 uses 3 pumps - one in the tank, one next to the tank in line and the HP injection Rail Pump.
The in line pump is a common fail.
