Hello Dudes..

Dropped the oil out of the diff...RTV sealant was used to seal the diff..is that 'normal' or is there a gasket available??

Told you it was a 'bone' question...

TIA

Malcolm

You are right, it is an RTV sealant, I used a polyurethane gasket forming compound from Half***s on mine. What a chew it is to get to those bolts beside the left and right diff mounts - are you better taking the diff mounts off for accessing them? They are doable with the diff mounts in place, but they are an absolute venereal disease

That's how the diff is sealed. ;)
Cheers Nodge...having searched on 'The Obvious' places the only reference to a diff gasket was a tube of stuff...(might have been Philidelphia Cheese for all I know) but kinda got the idea that was where this was going...Diff is out at the moment along with the rear subframe so will replace the diff cover and refill it once it's back in position....won't tell you how I got the cover Aff, as with all the bolts 'out' I could not, for the sake of me get the diff to separate..(it was ON THERE!!) but it involved an 'airline'...just glad the the seals held out...

Thanks Jay...Know all about venereal disease so will more than likely refit the diff cover and refill wither just before on once the subframe is back on the vehicle....thanks again...
