Mega flush worries

I just contacted an auto specialist near me that does mega flush for Land rovers etc. They specialise in Land rovers. Spoke with them in the phone. My car is a 2003 4.4 v8 petrol with the BMW engine and box. The bloke told me they would use dexron 2 on my car because it was the older model. I asked if it was the Lt71141. And he just blustered and said it didn't need that, just Dexron 2.
I need a flush doing but he didn't inspire confidence, unless of course he is correct. Anybody have a view on this?

Dexron II is NOT correct, it will most likely knacker the box.
Why are you going for a mega flush? A normal oil and filter change is normally sufficient., a second change after a few hundred miles will ensure that the oil is clean.

Thanks, I wont get it done there.
I was going to get a mega flush just because I thought it was a good thing to get done. My fluid in the box is rather grim looking.

Just a fluid and filter change IMO..

And yes go somewhere else!

He did say they don't normally change the filter because they are very good and clean up with the fluid change. I should of realised then.

You're right but I've only lived in Cornwall for 6 years never had issues with trades like I get down here when I was in London and Liverpool

Could be they don't like you because you aren't local, or maybe you have just been unlucky.

Don't think it's not being unliked, I think it's just they all try it on. I've loads of examples of things they have tried .It's just very difficult to find a reliable garage in Cornwall.

Difficult to find a reliable garage anywhere when it comes to Range Rovers.

Or sold them snake oil in a can. Dex 2 probably wouldnt hurt it but it’s no good.

My hilux said Dex2 on thee cap but it wasn’t what was in there and couldn’t get it anyway.

You got to get it to temperature and follow procedure correctly, not just pour it in on an autobox.

Buy a cheap garden sprayer, take the spray head off, put your ATF in, pump up, press the trigger and hey presto the ATF goes into the box. Pay attention to the required filling temperature etc.
