Millers extra cool coolant additive in td5

Hello I was wondering if this millers extra cool additive is any good, as I regularly tow with my remapped td5?
Any have any experience with this?

What can it possibly do?

I tow with my D2 and have loaded it up to max up and down hills, through fields.
Offroad etc

And it's been fine

Probably rebranded snake oil! As it doesn’t have any antifreeze properties I’d say it’s just some sort of wetting agent.

Towing shouldn't be a problem for any Landrover, so probably just an extra expense.

On the other hand, if you like spending money and trying stuff, it probably won't do any harm either.

Sorry lads I didn’t elaborate very much, only before winter I’m going to drain the coolant system and I saw this stuff pop up on an advert and thought it is interesting, it can reduce the chances of the coolant boiling or something, with added anti corrosion properties, just add it to anti freeze apparently... I know my landy is just fine towing as it is but she is 14 years old now and thought this may help with reducing the heat if there ever is much

If your thermostat is working, and the cooling system generally in OK condition, there is absolutely no reason your coolant should boil anyway.
The radiator capacity is designed with a wide margin of error to dissipate any heat that would be generated under normal circumstances.

If you want to reduce the risk even more, go to waterless coolant.

Let me add that you should never ever rely on the instrument in a td5
The real temperature is remapped to a flat spot between 65 and 115 ºC. The latter is definitely too much.
When I remap a td5 i make the gauge behave correctly, programming the centre to 88ºC.
I don't know why they did that it is beyond me.

Are you saying the pin in the gauge will sit at the ctr line between these temps?

Do you have a mapping tool? Like Nanocom or a USB JTAG.. ?
Then you need a hex editor.. let me know which fuel map you are running and I'll tell you

And yes it just sits there.
In a Defender it is an easy fix, in a Disco 2 it is between 68 and 115. I noticed that with my Hawkeye when I was worried about a head. So one day I looked at the map and said something not printable about the paperpusher who did this

Strange, as mine would move off of the bottom and sit there, but at 72 it was still only 1/3rd of the way, as it had a broken sensor. But when fixed it would sit in the middle position all day long, so where did you get the 65 from?

I measured it with Hawkeye and thermometer.
Plus.. you can see it very clearly in the factory map.

I measured it with the nanocom reading, it was only a third at 72C.
Do you have the factory map in a diagram?

Hmm..

Lots of modern cars have a temp gauge which is really just a warning light. The needle will not move with minor adjustments and might only have 3 positions. Cold, middle and too hot.
