Hi - new member and first Land Rover
I have a 2.5L petrol conversion Series 3 -Carb - zenith copy is connected to a Defender pedal via a cable. The pedal is sitting too high to drive with. Is there a conversion kit or mod that I can do to solve this problem? Or shoukd the standard Series 3 pedal be refitted ?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Can't the cable be shortened to bring the pedal down? Originally, the pedal would have been connected to the carb with a rod arrangement, you may be better off going back to that.

The pedal box/footwell of a Series is slightly different to a Defender. The Defender pedal does not sit perfectly when used. You will have to mess about with it and move it up/down or maybe shim it to make it nice to use. Make sure you retain the full pedal travel.

Stock Series pedal is a rod operated one. With some ingenuity you can in the engine bay hook this up to a cable. But will likely require you to fab some bits up.

Cheers - when the cable is tensioned it pulls the pedal assembly back and up - yes I think I need to find a series 3 pedal set up

Great thank you - I’ll look at moving this one - appreciated

When I did mine I cut the pedal lever end bent it down so that it had the right travel then rewelded it again.

Solved ! And you still had enough travel to fully open the carb ?
mine is a diesel but same thing just keep adjusting it till you get it right, if you dont cut the pedal right and leave enough so it will stay in place when you bend it its fairly straight forward. Theres adjustment on the cable as well so just a matter of fettling.
