Lads and ladies, I’m just curious to see if anyone else here uses there Defender for work? I use my ex RAF 110’ for work every day (gardener/grounds maintenance contractor) and also tow trailers often too and so far in the few years I have owned it has served me well... Any one else out there?

I commute in mine when I'm working. Would like to use it 'for working' one day though. Not much call for farm work these days unless you own the place.

I don’t use my Defender every day, usually once or twice a week to go to work. Occasionally, I’ll use it more often and and it definitely prefers regular use.:)

That’s great to hear tottot! Have you had anything major repairs in that time?

The old truck is something of a Triggers broom having seen much hard work and play. All the front bodywork, doors, engine [19j now 200 ] and gearbox have been replaced. On its third clutch, Third suspension set. Still original transfer box and axles. Chassis and bulkhead original with only some small patches despite living by the sea. Regular coatings of waist oil and diesel have kept the tin worm at bay, along with extra mud flaps covering the outriggers/ footwells. Do work myself.

My ‘87 110 is my work vehicle. I’m a gardener too and the old girl is my faithful companion. A Transit would be more practical, but where’s the fun in that!?
Edit: don’t know why the second photo popped up, obviously irrelevant!

I use mine every day, Archaeologist by week, father by weekend (son loves going for drives). Apart from changing the engine, because the 19j was underpowered, I've not had to do anything major to it, mainly just usual maintenance.

I repair domestic appliances and use my 2005 110 SW all day every day for work.

Since purchase in late 2014 l’ve done 57,000 miles in her.

“Elsa” has been great and has never once let me down, only needing the usual maintenance items.

I can get two large screen TV sets behind the front seats, where they are secure and don’t need any restraint.
Tools and smaller items fit in the rear, where l have removed the side facing seats.
It’s also easy to see that nothing is left in the vehicle overnight.

That’s awesome lads thank you for sharing! Good to see Land Rovers still getting worked, down here in Devon a lot of farmers still use them, and a few utilities companies like Weston power etc but they all seem to be getting swapped for pick up trucks now, quite sad really!

I use mine every day to get around as part of my work. Sometimes for towing my trailer for work related things too. A lot of the time I could use any four wheels or even a bike but where’s the fun in that. Besides which everyone knows me in my Defender.

Nice moves, there was me thinking that all the TVs get replaced and shipped back to workshop China for recycling etc. Nice to hear repairs to them still go on.

Yes not many of us left now, getting harder to repair TV sets as manufacturers actively design sets to be unrepairable
(Such as attaching the screen with double sided tape, so it’s almost impossible to remove, or not putting part numbers on the circuit boards so you can’t get replacements)

Fortunately l also repair white goods (washers, dryers, dishwashers, cookers) and that side of the trade is very busy.

I also repair Hl-FI, and vintage equipment such as reel to reel tape decks and old record players, and l get a fair few of those in, three this week.
