Hi all, new to the forum and looking for some help please. I have a 2002 L322, just had a replacement gearbox and all seemed well for a few months. However now the car seems to be stuck in 4th gear? Error message says Transmission failsafe! Whether driving in automatic or trying to shift manually it won’t change gear. Very grateful for any advice and how best to Try to fix this issue please. Thanks Ols

Is your L322 a 4.4 V8 or a 3.0 TD6 (they have different transmissions)?

There are many faults which can cause the transmission to go into failsafe mode, including reasons that have nothing to do with the transmission e.g. low battery voltage, or a faulty transfer box shift motor potentiometer. However, whatever fault has caused the failsafe condition should have logged an error code in the transmission controller. You therefore need to get the vehicle plugged into a diagnostics kit capable of reading Land Rover-specific transmission codes and then report back on what error is found.
