Assuming this is a P38, does it have EGR? If it does, and it's not already blanked, pull the vacuum pipe off the actuator at the manifold, block the tube with an M5 screw. An electrically duff MAP sensor will give you a problem, but if the car has a MAF, try unplugging it. A duff MAF can restrict performance. If the MAF is faulty, unplugging it will immediately show a difference.
Sorry Keith,it's a 98 P38 so pre ERG and no MAF.

isn't that an iminent seizure mode?
No, but you do need to stop PDQ:eek: I had just overtaken a truck on a hill and pulled up at the traffic lights, when the lights turned green it pulled away, but only just. Pulled over and waited for the steam to subside and limped it into the supermarket car park. Hired a trailer and picked it up later in the day, just goes to show that having 2 P38's is a good idea:rolleyes::D:D

Odd you should mention that!

Speak of the devil, just coming back from the bank and the "no boost" issue pops up!
Pulled over, left the engine running and unplugged the MAF sensor. Pulled away with plenty of boost.
I then pulled over again, engine running and plugged it back in.
Pulled away and bingo..........
It was like there was no problem with it in the first place??
Stupid cow....

wonder how long it will take to play up again? unplugging/replugging once every few weeks is not end of the world to live with.
Annoying though I bet

Thank the lord for pre EGR’s :D:) (that still pass modern emissions)
Crazy bureaucrats fitting nonsense to our Landys

They don't really check emissions on diesels, just smoke. However your pre EGR P38 will be banned from many cities in Europe.

Wish I I had a MAF to unplug . Personally I'm going back to basics, new fuel and air filters ordered and will check the turbo waste gate linkage if the weather stays fine.;)
