Well an update, after checking map pipe as advised ,I changed the fuel and air filters this morning. What a difference! So I guess that going back to basics, the way I was taught, is always the starting point.;)

Will they not sharpen up? Most mower blades will come up sharper with a flap disc than they come new.

The old ones are bent and dull. I will fit new (sharpened) and remove old ones and see if they can be saved. If so straighten sharpen and balance as spares.

They will warp and crack in the end but sharp ones saves belts no end and grass is growing quick early this year

Following your adventure I realised I’ve overlooked the basics and invested in a new filter. Local MF gave it to me £6.30 seems pretty good quality compared to some I’ve seen, presuming it fits - looks same 0B463E93-7A43-4692-869A-AC2D27E23D07.jpeg
