Noticed my coolant was Low so i topped it up. without even starting the car up i noticed it was already leaking from the right hand side as you face the engine. The water is on the side of the engine. if you look at the photos, could you give me some ideas please. thanks

There's a few coolant pipes around there, any of which can leak. If it's had a MLS head gasket fitted recently, then hose can leak coolant too, which is why I won't use them.

It only seems to leak down to a certain level and the engine was cold when it was leaking. Head gasket was done by previous owner but dont know what the solution was.

Which would point to the HG in my experience. Especially as it looks to be leaking at the joint where the HG is.

But your best bet is to do a pressure test when cold, so you can actually see where it's leaking from. ;)

Another thing that may be related, i had to tighten the clip on the hose going in to the white housing thing (thermostat i think) last week as it was slightly leaking from there. That was cured straight away. Did a 140 mile round trip with no loss but now we have the above problem

Starting to wonder if my car is haunted now... Then leak never goes below minimum on the header tank on a 8 mile run. Surely if it was the head gasket, it would lose all it's fluid while the engine is running. On top of that, my drivers side door lock which stopped working from the fob or centre console last month has suddenly started working..

That's nothing, wait till you've had it a while. I never know if mine is going to let me in or allow me to open the back door or if it will start or whether it will have any coolant in it the next time I need it or if the volume control on the radio will decrease the volume when I turn it up or whether it will do 350 miles on a tank of petrol or 250 or if it will go into reverse or,or,or,or
