They are. I actually keep a spare, as they are very easily damaged, and don't cost much.

They can be a nightmare to get off. Make sure to loosen the fill plug BEFORE loosening the drain plug. JIC.

My trusty Worx buzz gun gets them off OK, well most of the time anyway.

My trusty Clarke Buzz gun chewed the corners off the bolt so it was nice and round last time.

On another note... when I am replacing this VCU do I need to mark anything up - seen a couple of vids, and in one where the guy marks up the prop with tipex to make sure it goes back in exactly the same way - is this needed? we didnt mark up the positioning on the car, but can mark up the different joints on the prop if its needed. If it was a solid prop I could understand, but with having a vcu in the middle does it make that much difference? unless I am missing something.

More importantly than a buzz gun, make sure you only use 6 sided sockets. A normal ratchet works just as well, but the hammering a buzz gun can help.

You can mark up the bearing's location on the floor (there's a notch in the bearings for this). But if you didn't mark them, you just need to make sure the VCU is refitted along the centre line of the vehicle, with the bearings at exactly 90° to the VCU shafts.

No that's a pointless exercise, as the propshafts are balanced independently.

Agreed. I've never managed to break a Bahco tool, even with extreme abuse.
