What are you wanting to use it for? Is it lifted?
I know why people go for 18's, but personally think they usually look odd and wrong on a Defender. Plus they will likely make the ride worse. Disco2's ride way better on 16's than 18's.

Just using it as a run around. No off road stuff.

Mondials are a nice wheel 2nd to Comets. IMHIO
the Ride difference on a fender between 16" and 18" is negligible, not that defenders are comfortable anyways regardless.
Looks are subjective, go with what you like OP..
My 18"s have 255/55 R18 Nexan Rodians.
Not the quietest of tires but hardly the worst.

I use Nexen Roadians too, but mine are 235/85/16 ATs. I don’t think mine are noisy, but mine are on my 200tdi.

I have very recently had a very long chat with the guys at Twisted Automotive about wheel and tyres.
I'm ordering a set to upgrade my own from 235/85/16's.
Anyway.
The BFG A/T 265/65/18's have been the tyre of choice for the street look that lots of companies use.
But Michelin (who own BFG) have stopped producing the 265/65/18's and stocks are very low and hard to come by.
What Michelin have done is start to produce the 285/60 tyre as more of a replacement, apparently that was the go to fat tyre before the 265/65, so it's all swung back around again.

Go for the deepest wall tyre you can still fit under the wheel arch. That way you won't burst the tyre and shatter the alloy every time you hit a pot hole over 30mph.
