Can't be as bad as the ones I just took off :D

Yesterday fitted new UJ's to both props, on dismantling old ones seemed in reasonable nick but changed anyway.
Road tested and still got a noise, bummer!!, a sort of grinding/rubbing noise that is road speed related, intermittant and definetly not engine speed related.
At least everything I have done so far is for the good. The VCU was totally seized, and I now know the history of the prop UJ's.
Have to have a real go at the wheel bearings now, though they seem to be OK. To be honest it is a sort of project so I don't really mind renewing things that will need it sooner or later anyway.
As a thought How do I check to see if there is a sticking/lazy brake piston?
I did say to the Doris I might as well just drive it until something brakes or falls off, then we would know what the noise was. She was not amused -- I was :D:D

Slider on brake caliper sticking? Wheel getting hot during a run?

It was my post about replacing the exhaust mounting rubbers and spotting a broken shock absorber. You asked if was sh1tpart.

Ah, probably the damper but could be the rubbers. I had a ****part shock that snapped. @mr_gorsky put ****part exhaust rubbers on his, left it for a year and when he got back they were f*cked and he had to put the old ones back!

Wheels all cool after use, but may be a bearing, got a lot going on here ATM but will have a look at bearings and brakes - and H' brake when I have a mo.
As I said not bothered about the work(and expense) of changing the VCU cos it were fecked anyway, and at least I now know the condition of the prop UJ's.
To be honest consider myself lucky the VCU hadn't bust anything else in the meantime.
