ive just bought a complete 200tdi disco for 450notes, only done 137k miles, good solid engine im goin to pick it up tomorrow.

i wont be able to afford to put the engine in my 90 for a few weeks, til ive saved a bit of money up.

im gona buy a steve parker downpipe, and take it to a local mechanic/family friends garage and do as much as possible myself, with help from the mechanic. its ideal really cos i will have a good garage to work in with a ramp, engine hoist, all the tools i will need.

how long should i budget to get the job done, any ideas? i am hopin to get it done in 3 days.

im also plannin on putting the disco tranny box and rear axle on, but il prob just take them off the vehicle to put on at a later date. and then scrap the vehicle.

exciting times!:D

if you've got everything to hand that'll be enough time but don't under-estimate how long going fetching bits takes

have you got all of the additional pipework sorted ?

SP now do a complete set of all the pipes needed, you might think it expensive but when you see that good quality CAF pipe of the right diameter is about £40 a meter you might be tempted to open your wallet

Steve Parker Land Rover Exhaust Systems, Stainless Steel Exhausts

that is very expensive, to get the downpipe, intercooler kit and air filter kit is about 2 weeks wages for me!

are they really necessary, do you use them when you do tdi conversions?

i mite just get the exhaust downpipe and see if my mechanic can bodge the rest of the pipework!

either that or time to get the credit card out.....

yep i will do the clutch, and timing belt as well.

il have a chat with my mechanic mate and see what he thinks about the pipework. mite just be easier to grit my teeth and fork out for the proper kits, if only to make the job easier, quicker and neater.

it's a shame they dont put a picture of the finished engine bay up so people could guage if they were spending their money on something worthwhile

i cant see the point of that new air filter as the old TD one does the trick, and you don't have to move it - but that does make the plumbing coming out of the top intercooler a bit tight

so basically the same as the steve parker downpipe, but a bit cheaper and stainless steel? not sure i like the look of the seller though, 0 feedback!

by the way, went and picked the disco up today.

i know the disco tranny box is better for on road use cos its higher geared.

what i want to know is do i need to split the transfer box from the disco lt77 to put it into my 90, or can i just put the disco gearbox and transfer box in?
