I have a brand new range rover TDV6 2017 plate with 16k on the clock and engine management has kicked in second day running. AA have no clue. Happens when you red line reve meter. Is this a common fault? What's wrong with the car? Land rover assistance coming out tomorrow? Anyone else had this issue?

I’d hope the ‘rev limiter ‘ would cut in before it did red line, my DISCO’s does. But then it’s a diesel, do they rev and have a limiter I ’ve never driven one. With my cars I can and will sometimes red line and then change gear. Stick shift of paddles.

Ok it’s now the 8 Feb so what’s the outcome?

Land rover assist came out. Plugged his computer in and looked at the error codes and said engine was being starved of fuel. Most likely fuel filter needed replacing. He replaced it and car feels completely different. Drives like a dream. He seemed to know what the problem was before I even started talking. He did not charge for fuel filter and explained it would not have been changed until second service anyway. Still cannot understand why a fuel filter would fail at 16k

Thanks for your reply, and very interesting and some praise for LR assist.
Fuel filters can block, eventually, but I agree very doubtful at 16k miles but u never know. Your vehicle would be nearly due for its second year service so in theory it would be changed then along with the air filter.

With petrol engines their fuel filters can stay forgotten and unchanged for years, until there’s a lack of performance prompts someone to suggest placing the fuel filter

Good outcome, surprised it hasnt had a new filter, I always do fuel filter with oil change on a diesel. Don't bother on petrol cars tho
