Hi some advice wanted please.
I have a 2011 FL2 HSE, only had it 4 weeks so a mishap whilst removing the LR supplied dog guard I scratched the window film on the left side rearmost side window.
Firstly didn't know it was a film applied to the windows, thought it was the color of the glass but no it is a film.
My question is can this film be replaced to look original?
Or is it a new window?

Take a look on line in your area, Their are some independent window tint and panel wrappers around that can replicate original.
some of the work they do in our area is very impressive.
the LR dealers may be able to order the film.

OK, That sounds promising that it is possible to replace the film I will try the Main dealer first.
I dont suppose anyone has a part number for the film

If yer look at the glass... the factory tints with propper tinted glass dun't show the aerial and eated screen elements much. The film covered tints do. They show up as orange lines.

interesting - there is film on ours and i also assumed it was factory.. shame on me.
do landrovers have an options sticker / decoder anywhere that i could check what is /isnt fitted?
sorry for slight hijack
thanks.

If there's tinting film applied, then it's been fitted after the vehicle was built. Factory tints used tinted glass, so no film is applied.

There are websites that give all your vehicle build information, if key in the VIN.

That site was really useful. It used to list all the options fitted, but these days when ever I've tapped in a VIN it only gives very little info.

If yer contact @yessi (via pm private message conversation) who is a member on ere he will help. He works at a main dealer and has offered int past to look up factory created info at the time of build. Like original fitted option and serial numbers of major parts like the engine/gearbox.

If a buyer wants tints fitted to a vehicle without, some dealers will fit them themselves or arrange for them to be fitted. The quality of aftermarket tints varies so it is worth making sure whoever yer choose has good reviews.

Now I'm confused .
Looking at my damaged window (scratches due to dog guard removal) I can see around the perimeter a series of black dots which blends the glass to the metalwork and the Land rover logo and glass identification.
Will this remain if I remove the film or is it part of the film.
If it is film then it is aftermarket? Is this a correct statement?

The dots will stay when the film comes oft. Loads of vid's ont you tube showing easy tricks to get the film oft.

I'm also curious about window films. Would that make my house really dark though? Recently heard about them and am considering if I should get them. What I expect from these films:
1) Rejects heat
2) Provides Privacy
3) Provides safety
4) Rejects UV Rays
Will they meet my expectations?

Eye dun't think fittin tints to yer car will effect yer ouse.

Hot countries sometimes fit tint film to building windows. The amount of light let in... Cover the non tinted front windows of a tinted car and sit in the back with light only via the tints. Then try to read a book. This would give yer an eye dear of tint only light. There will be some form of reduction. It will stop some of the sun's rays.
