Hi to all,

I am regular on Mini2.com but i hope to be buying my wife a 110 Defender Sw very soon, so i am after any advice i can get!!

I am not here to knock the brand just after good advice, i have always wanted a Land Rover just never got round to it until possibly now.

I am very open to suggestions of the pros and cons, just be gentle with me. :)

Good point, no requirement for expolsive carrying, ak47's could be useful when the kids get unruly though!!

It will be as our family motor, i have wife and 3 young kids! To be used for family hols we have large trailer tent to pull and usual bikes and stuff to carry.

Need at least 7 seats with at least 5 3 point harness seat belts.

Big budget too, can even stretch to a new one the war dept has authorised the spend. Though would prefer to spend less.

Is the latest one more or less reliable? It would appear to be substanially more complicated.

Not too sure about the new 110's but you can't get 5 3 point lap and diagonals in my 110, 4 at most.
You could try looking at a Disco 7 seater, not sure how comfortable the flip down seats in the very back are though ( long journeys etc ) also I don't know if I'd be that happy to let a child sit at the very rear pressed right up against the rear door like that.
Plus if you do flip down one of the seats you automatically lose half your boot space.

if you want it primarily as a family motor - look seriously at a Discovery - rust can be a problem, but unlikely in a fairly new motor. bit more comfy than a defender.

Looks like a new one then, as they have 3 point harnesses on all 7 seats.

She does not want a Discovery, i have already suggested that. It the Defender or a people carrier type thing! She has Jeep Cherokee at the moment but it is now too small as the kids get bigger.

I just might have to take the sensible option!

Yes. Why does it not have full seat belts on all the seats? I thought that was the law now and is why it has gone from a 9 seater to a 7, so all can be forward facing with full seat belt.

Right:)
I wasn't aware of that, sounds like the ideal car for the job then:D
I guess seat configuration would be 2 3 2 from front to back.

Go on get one you know you want to;)
