P1190 fault no loss in power

P1190 fault code and eml.
No loss in power.
No extra smoke.
No flat spot.
When you switch the engine off it takes a 3 or 4 seconds extra to die.
I'm thinking fuel pressure regulator or rail pressure switch.

It's been done to death recently. Rail sensor and injector I think the most recent cures were.

I've trawled through a load of old posts but most come with power loss. It's the not switching off part that makes me think regulator

If the regulator fails, the engine won't run at all.

I don't know what that is. But the Bosch CP1 pump regulator works by blocking the fuel return line when energised. This forces the fuel to the rail at very high pressure. So if the high pressure regulator isn't working, or it's O rings fail, the high rail pressure needed can never be achieved.
The running on is strange, as even if the regulator has stuck closed, the EDC kills the injectors, so the engine can't run. Are you getting oil passed into the inlet tract from the breather circuit?

Fcos is a fuel cut off solenoid, normally on the hp side of the fuel system, when its de-energised (ie you turn the car off) it shuts and effectively stalls your diesel engine.
What I'm thinking is the fuel rail is over pressurising making it run on even when the injectors shut down. It is only a few seconds but that could be the current dissapating.
The running on only happens when the eml is on. The breathers seem good, I had all of the air intake off recently as well and it was fairly oil free.
All this only started when i changed the lift pump. The old one wasn't working at all so the second fuel pump was screaming.

There isn't a fuel cut off solenoid on the M47R version of the CP1 pump. So all fuel control is done with the regulator and injectors.
I don't know if the regulator can stick open, but I guess anything is possible. All you can do is substitute the regulator to see if that cures the problem.
