Ok, I don't go any long distances that make it really worthwhile but.......
Its there, it ought to work and it irks me that it doesn't when everything else does.
I think all the Vacuum-hose is pretty perished, so what to replace it with?
Is 7mm ID Silicon Hose ok?, or does that just collapse under the Vacuum involved?
I don't think the ECU is toast, its more likely to be the Brake-switch, but I'm happy to have a bash at fixing it.

Anyone else been down this path too, any pearls of wisdom for me to consume (Oink...Oink). ;)

yes silicon does collapse :oops:

Assuming the ECU is working, then replacing all the rubber hose (including small bits inside the pump), plus possibly the brake vacuum switch should sort it.

Pump hoses can be checked using RAVE troubleshooting guide, but start by blocking off the long hose to the brake pedal just where it connects to the pump-actuator.

Actuator is quite easy to bench test. Take the whole assembly off & apply 12V to the pump to see if it can build vacuum. If not investigate the small pipes inside the housing. . . . . . and so on. logical steps will result in working cruise . . . . . assuming the engine still works !!

OK, for the avoidance of doubt "pearls of wisdom" are NOT in any way associated with necklaces @Mark Piercy.
The rubber vacuum hose on the car is fairly perished and cracked, and I thought I had heard silicon hoses were OK for the job.
It was "sort-of" working at one point ....but kept upping the MPH before the stealer nadgered it in his many attempts to "fix" it.
I think I will have a bash

Silicone vacuum hose will be fine.
 
I think it's 5mm ID hose you need. I'd cut your old hose and measure it carefully. I used silicone vacuum hose (bright blue for some reason!) and it's been fine, but I bought too big ID so had to put cable ties on to make sure the connection was tight.

I am in Oregon USA, about halfway up on the coastal highway in my RV.
Regular internet is a thing of the past so I'm not on here so much these days.
I have seen a few P38s around on my drive up from Florida. All of them in "well used" condition!

Anyone got a Simple wiring diagram for the weasel C/C? Mine stopped working after I did the heater o rings,may get to look at it whilst I'm not driving thanks in anticipation.

Engine ECU does cruise on diesels. If it's a manual look at the clutch switch.
