Hi Guys.
I'm just about in County Antrim. Bushmills.
Restoring a RR Classic (pictured) and collecting a 110 on Wednesday from GB and plan to give it a Heritage look with canvas roof.
Been a confirmed Jeep guy until now.
Just thought I'd introduce myself. If anyone's on the North Coast and feels like meeting up,
give me a shout here, a few days beforehand .

Good to hear from you! Had a RR classic some years ago and absolutely loved it; fuel consumption was 'challenging' but the sound of that engine on startup was music to my ears..
I'm currently in the process of converting my D90 hardtop, which I bought in Scotland a month ago, to a soft-top and have lined-up a frame supplier and think I'll go with Undercover Covers for the 'proper' canvas cover. At the moment, the Landy is in the workshop getting the engine checked out as it has no logged maintenance history worth talking about and sorting a minor oil leak (always!); after that, I'll do the conversion and maybe give you a shout when I defo head up to the North Coast.

I'm old enough to recall the US Navy tailhook scandal of.. ....I think it was the 80's.........so, interesting choice of name
Anyhoo. Sounds like we're doing roughly the same thing. Be good to compare notes.
The RR was supposed to be a quick turnaround with a profit. Its turned into anything but and the saga isn't over yet.
Luckily or not, it has an LPG conversion, so as soon as I can, it's into Holmes Motors for a service.
Definitely give me a shout if you're headed this direction. There's a superb tea shop next to Dunluce Castle called
the Wee Cottage. Handy place to meet and great food!
I've checked out Undercover Covers, so I'll be interested to hear how you get on. Haven't sorted out a frame
supplier yet.

Yep, being a 50-something, I certainly remembered the reporting of those 'incidents' in Las Vegas and the name sort of stuck with me!
For the frames, I'm going for ones made by Purely Metal, the owner is Colin and this is his
Email. Very helpful bloke and the quality of the products look superb, as confirmed by guys on the forums here and you can see the same frames in this YouTube Video by Fraser and a few others he has made of the Heritage 90. Unfortunately, and because we are in Norn Iron, the postage is an eye-watering £120; at least, it watered my eyes! Here's an extract from his quote:
The hoodsticks sets are £522.00. The 4 piece door surrouds are £130.00 a set. Note that he does not supply the windscreen header rail; Exmoor trim have these for, I think, around £80. You can see these frames on a 110 in this thread
Would love to meetup and lets do that in the coming weeks, when maybe this Defender will be back on the road!

I'm attempting to find out what kind of budget I'll need, if I was to do another of these.
I need to find the best deals that I can, based on repeat business.
Or find someone local to fabricate what I need.
Though I suppose when you look at it as sourcing a whole vehicle roof, around £1,000
doesn't seem exorbitant.
£120 is nuts for carriage, but then I'm guessing there's a fair bit of weight in these parts.
Unless they're aluminium?
My defender definitely won't be finished for a few months, but the RR is mobile at least,
so it'd be great to meet up. Maybe get a few others here interested too?

Colin, transit weight is 45kg.
The costs, overall, are significant and until the D90 is out of the garage and those costs covered, I'm not purchasing a thing! It's very easy for these vehicles to become a Black Hole for cash and a bit of control is required....

According to online checks it’s not been on the road since and I’m very keen to track down the current owner
Any help would be appreciated

Write to him using the reg number c/of the DVLA with an attached letter to DVLA an a stamped and addressed envelope to the current owner. Might we worth a try.

Possibly worth a try but I can’t see DVLA being that helpful lol
I sold it that cheap I’d give him twice what he gave me lol
He said it was a project for him and his son so if he did the work that he said he was going to the price will have doubled anyway lol

I've heard of sending a note to a current owner via DVLA.
If you include a couple of stamps and a blank envelope,
there's little cost to them.
Give them a call. They might surprise you.
Otherwise, I'd reckon this is a long shot.
If you try DVLA and have no luck there or here,
let us know here. I might be able to help you.
