Hi all,

As said I'm looking for a part number or the viscous fan coupling for my diseasel P38. I can find full assemblies but wondered if you can just buy the viscous unit as with other cars as everywhere just wants me to buy a complete fan blade assembly.

Cheers

Not aware that the viscous unit is available as a separate item.
If you car has aircon, I can give you a mod to use the aircon fans instead of the viscous fan.

Hi mate. We spoke a while back about this and you kindly sent me all the details to make the mod. Just haven't got round to that yet. Did the old rolled up paper in the fan. Stops fairly easily. I only ever her the fan roar on start up. That's it after that no matter how hot it gets. Pretty sure the HG is probably weeping but need to fix this first to rule it out.

Viscous fans for P38 come as a complete unit. However i have seen P38s fitted with the viscous fan hub and blades from a Disco 1 that do come as separate items.

Fair enough boys. I'll just get the full unit. Obviously avoid the Britpart one yes? o_O

It will roar on startup as it will be locked. Then it will go loose as the engine warms and then as the engine gets hot it will lock up again in order to drive air over the rad.

Yeah mate and mine doesn't lock up when hot. It literally is only locked on start up.

Mine doesn't feel any different when engine is hot or cold. There is some resistance but not much. Thanks for the info Wammers. Genuinely didn't know that.

Well anyway a new one is on the way although I thought Island would be a bit quicker. They still haven't dispatched it yet.
